From Tally to signed statements.
FYNEST reads the trial balance out of TallyPrime and builds the financial statements on the same computer. Setting it up takes a couple of minutes, once per machine. After that, a full set is a handful of dropdowns and two clicks.
The short versionHow it works
FYNEST runs inside the Roshi Suite, a Windows app installed on the computer that runs Tally. Beside it sits a small connector that speaks to Tally over Tally’s own gateway. When you press Fetch, the connector asks Tally for the ledgers of the period you chose, and the workbook is built on that machine.
- Your books never leave the computer — No trial balance, no ledger, no client name and no tax number is sent anywhere. Only your sign-in, and anything you type into the contact form, reaches us.
- Nothing is installed into Tally — No TDL file to copy, nothing to load at startup. The report definition travels inside each request and Tally forgets it afterwards.
- Tally is only ever read — FYNEST cannot alter a voucher, a ledger or a master. Stop using it at any point and your books are exactly as they were.
- There is no file to export — FYNEST reads the company open in front of you. There is no CSV to produce, save or upload.
Once per computerSet up
- 1
Install the Roshi Suite on the computer that runs Tally
Run the setup and press Next — there is nothing to choose. It installs FYNEST and the connector that reads Tally, and switches Tally’s own gateway on for you, so you never open Tally’s settings and nothing is added to your books.Download Roshi Suite 1.10.26Windows, about 25 MB. TallyPrime must be installed
- 2
Sign in once, inside the app
Open Roshi Suite and press Continue with Roshi. A sign-in window opens; use your Google account. It closes itself and FYNEST loads signed in. The sign-in is remembered on that computer, so this is a once-per-machine step.
- 3
Open Tally, with the company loaded
FYNEST reads whichever companies are open in Tally at that moment. Keep Tally running while you work; it is never written to.
Install it on the machine where Tally runs. FYNEST reads Tally over the local connection on that computer, so a copy installed on a different PC cannot see those books — which is the same reason nobody else can.
Each set of accountsMake the statements
Open Roshi Suite with Tally running. The screen asks for the following, in order, and each answer narrows the next.
- 1
Company
The list is the companies open in Tally right now. Choosing one shows the period that company holds.
- 2
Financial year
Only the years the company actually holds data for are offered, and the last completed one is selected for you. The line beneath says how the accounts will read — "year ended 31 March 2026".
- 3
Comparative data
Where last year’s figures come from. Current company when the same file holds both years. Different company when the firm keeps one company per year — that file must also be open in Tally, and only open companies holding the earlier period are offered. No comparative leaves the prior column blank for you to fill in. The prior period is then chosen from the years that file holds, and the year immediately before the one you are reporting on is picked for you.
- 4
Format: proprietorship or partnership
This decides the shape of the capital account and the ICAI format the workbook follows. Where Tally holds the firm’s own PAN or GSTIN on the company master, FYNEST reads the single character in it that states the assessee status and selects the format for you, marked Auto-detected. It is never locked — change it in one click. Where Tally holds neither number, nothing is preselected and you choose.
- 5
Fetch trial balance
FYNEST asks Tally for the ledgers of both periods and reads them. A few seconds on an ordinary company, longer on a large one, and all of it on your own computer.
- 6
Answer anything it could not place
A Tally group FYNEST does not recognise is listed with a dropdown of statement lines. Nothing is dropped quietly: the workbook cannot be built until every group listed has a line, and each answer is remembered for every company afterwards.
- 7
Download the workbook
The finished Excel workbook is built on your machine and saved to your Downloads folder.
Fetched the wrong company or period? Reset returns you to the top with the rules you have set still in place. Nothing has been written anywhere in the meantime.
The outputWhat you get
- Balance sheet and Statement of Profit and Loss
- — In the ICAI format for the entity type you chose, with the comparative column alongside.
- Notes 1 to 23
- — Every note the face sheets refer to, on their own sheets, tied to the figures above them.
- Horizontal format
- — The same accounts in the horizontal presentation, for firms that issue them that way.
- Schedules
- — Debtors, creditors, advances from customers, advances to suppliers and closing stock, itemised.
- The trial balance as FYNEST read it
- — The figures the statements were built from, so any line can be traced back to the ledger it came from.
It is an ordinary Excel workbook with the figures in it, not a locked export. Edit, print or attach it as you would any other working paper.
Set once, keptTeach FYNEST your own Tally groups
FYNEST knows the standard Tally groups. Where your practice has created its own, it names the group and offers a dropdown of statement lines. Answer once and it is applied to every company from then on, so the second set of accounts asks less than the first, and the tenth asks nothing.
Rules are stored in this browser only. They are never uploaded and never linked to a client. Use Back up rules under “Rules you have already set” before clearing your browser or moving to a new computer.
Before you signWhat FYNEST checks, and what it cannot
Three things are settled before the workbook is built, and each is worth a glance.
- 1Every group reaches a statement line — A Tally group FYNEST cannot place is listed, and it blocks the download until you give it a line. Nothing is left out silently.
- 2The years it will use — The year being reported on and the comparative, both offered only from periods the companies actually hold — so a comparative cannot come from a year with no data in it.
- 3The format it chose — Proprietorship or partnership, from the tax number on the company master where Tally holds one. Change it if the books say otherwise.
None of this is an opinion on the accounts. FYNEST classifies and arranges what your trial balance contains and cannot see the business behind it — a figure can be placed exactly as asked and still be wrong for these accounts. Read the statements themselves before you sign; you are the one signing them.
Keeping currentUpdates
Roshi Suite updates itself. It checks shortly after it starts and once a day afterwards, downloads the new version and installs it, closing and restarting both parts on its own. Windows asks for permission first, because the installation is for every user on the machine — accept that prompt and there is nothing else to do. You never need to come back to this site for a newer version.
TroubleshootingWhen something goes wrong
The company list is empty
Why: No company is open in Tally, or Tally is not running on this computer.
Fix: Open the company in Tally and reload FYNEST from the bar above. FYNEST lists only companies that are open at that moment — it does not browse the data folder, which is also why it can never read a company you have not opened yourself.
FYNEST says it cannot reach the connector
Why: The Roshi Suite connector is not running.
Fix: It starts with Windows and sits in the system tray. If it is not there, start Roshi Suite from the Start menu. Reinstalling the suite also restores it and keeps your settings.
The format was not detected
Why: The company master in Tally holds neither the firm’s PAN nor its GSTIN, so there is nothing to read the assessee status from.
Fix: Choose proprietorship or partnership yourself — one click, and the workbook is identical. To have it detected next time, enter the number in Tally under Company → Alter → Income Tax Number or GST details. FYNEST never stores or sends that number: it reads the one character that states the status and discards the rest.
"Different company" is greyed out
Why: No other company open in Tally holds the earlier year.
Fix: Open last year’s company file in Tally as well, then reload FYNEST. Both files can stay open together.
A Tally group keeps asking for a statement line
Why: It is a group your practice created, so FYNEST has no rule for it.
Fix: Pick the line once. The rule is kept in this browser and applied to every company from then on. Open "Rules you have already set" to review or change one.
Two ledgers were added together
Why: They have the same name in Tally.
Fix: FYNEST adds their balances and says so. Check whether they really are one account; if not, rename one in Tally and fetch again.
A figure looks wrong in the workbook
Why: FYNEST arranges what the trial balance contains. A ledger filed under the wrong Tally group reaches the wrong statement line.
Fix: Compare the line against the trial balance sheet in the workbook, which is exactly what FYNEST read. Correct the group in Tally and fetch again — the statements follow the books, not the other way round.
The sign-in window was closed before you finished
Why: It can be closed like any other window.
Fix: Press "Continue with Roshi" again and a fresh one opens. If it signs you in as somebody else, use "Sign in as someone else" on the same screen.
